Positive sample for a Hungarian athlete at the European Championships

According to information gathered by Nemzeti Sport (National Sports), a positive doping sample was produced by the sprinter Gábor Pásztor at the European Championships of Athletics last July.

The information was confirmed by Ágnes Tiszeker, head of the Hungarian Anti-Doping Group, adding that the first instance trial had already taken place, and an appeal was submitted by the athlete, so the second instance trial is pending. According to the annual report of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), Russian athletes produced the largest number of doping cases in world sports in 2015.

At the top of the list, published by WADA, is Russia with 176 cases, second is Italy with 129, and third is India with 117. The leading group also includes France with 84 and Belgium with 67 positive doping samples. Hungary is in 51st place with eight cases.
